If you’re just starting out with RTS games and liked Halo Wars, both Warcraft 3 and Starcraft 2 are great options, but it depends on what you’re looking for.
Warcraft 3 has a strong focus on story and hero units, so it feels more like a mix of RTS and RPG. If you enjoy narrative-driven gameplay and the idea of leveling up heroes alongside managing your army, it’s a solid choice. Plus, the art style and fantasy setting are super iconic.
Starcraft 2, on the other hand, is faster-paced and has a more competitive vibe. It’s really polished, and the sci-fi theme is amazing, but it might feel more overwhelming at first since there’s a bigger emphasis on multitasking and macro/micro mechanics. That said, the campaign is really fun and does a great job easing you into the mechanics.
If I were you, I’d go for Starcraft 2 because the free-to-play version gives you access to a lot of content to try out. But if the fantasy vibe and hero gameplay sound cooler, Warcraft 3 might be a better fit. Either way, you’re in for a good time!
