For fans eagerly awaiting the return of Dead Rising in all its remastered glory, Capcom has finally delivered a taste of what’s in store with a demo for Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster now available on Xbox Series X|S, as well as several other platforms.
In this demo, players step into the shoes of photojournalist Frank West, diving into the opening scenes of his notorious zombie-riddled adventure. However, Capcom has noted that certain elements in the demo may differ from the final retail version, so while it gives a solid preview, some features may be polished or adjusted in the full release. And for those hoping to get a head start, there’s a slight disappointment: your progress from the demo won’t carry over to the main game. Once you decide to purchase, it’s back to the beginning.
New Features and First Update for the Remaster
Alongside the release of the demo, Capcom has already rolled out the first significant update for Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster. While full patch notes haven’t been shared yet, players have noticed several welcome additions and improvements. One of the highlights is the new “casual” difficulty setting, which makes the game more approachable by allowing players to level up faster—ideal for newcomers or those looking to breeze through the chaos without much resistance. This update also includes various bug fixes to ensure smoother gameplay and an expansion of language options to accommodate a broader range of players.
A “No-Frills Upgrade” with Familiar Dead Rising Fun
When Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster initially launched in September, our team awarded the Xbox version a respectable 7 out of 10 stars, noting it as a solid, if modest, upgrade. The remaster focuses on enhancing visual fidelity and delivering improved performance for modern consoles, allowing both returning fans and newcomers to experience the classic zombie adventure with a bit more polish and reliability than the original.
